Time Travelled — 9 months

Peaceful right?

Dear Keith,
By the time you read this, we’ll be in our new life. Settled, probably. Changed, definitely. But tonight, I’m sitting in the quiet before it all takes shape. The movers come tomorrow. My things will go onto the truck, along with yours, and by the end of the month, we’ll be in Seattle together, building something neither of us has ever built before.
And I just keep thinking: I never expected this. Not with you. Not like this.
We’ve known each other for years. We’ve orbited one another through versions of ourselves we’ve long outgrown. But somehow, in this particular season, everything aligned. And in a matter of weeks, it felt like the axis of my life shifted.
What we’ve experienced in the past couple of months hasn’t been soft or easy. It’s been real. Raw. Fast, but not careless. And even in the messy moments—the parts that pulled up old fears or exposed unhealed places—I never felt unsafe. You didn’t pull away. Neither did I.
We stayed. We listened. We got closer.
I don’t think I’d ever really understood what it meant to be in partnership until now. I’d known control. I’d known compromise. I’d known loneliness inside of relationships that looked fine from the outside. But this feels entirely different.
You see me. Not the curated version. Not the high-functioning one. Me. And I see you. And somehow in the seeing, neither of us shrinks. We just keep expanding.
The life I’ve built alone has been hard-earned and deeply important to me. I’ve grown a lot in solitude. But the growth I feel with you, alongside you, is a different shape. It’s more dimensional. Less about survival and more about becoming.
You don’t complete me. You don’t fix anything. But you mirror things I needed to face. You hold space for things I never thought I could say out loud. And you challenge me, without ever making me feel like I have to prove myself to stay.
That’s a new feeling. And I don’t take it for granted.
There’s so much we don’t know about where this path will take us. There will be challenges, boredom, conflict, beauty, big decisions, quiet days.
But I trust us. Not because it’s perfect, but because we keep choosing it. Even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
And if we’ve come this far in 90 days, I can only imagine what the next year will unfold. Not in outcomes or milestones, but in depth. In understanding. In presence.
Thank you for being someone I can meet fully. For letting me be new here. And for being a safe place to land after so much time standing on my own.
Happy anniversary. We’re just getting started.
I love you.Brittany
