Dear FutureMe,
I am two weeks into no social media, and I can feel the way I think and process emotions differently. I think softer.
The beginning month of living in Aarhus has been tough, but I am proud of how well I know how to living on my own. I love my buddies here at Børglum, and folk at church are pleasant.
Sitting in church on Sunday I realized there were a lot of aspects about my recent relationships that I hadn’t processed. The two girls I had kissed in those past 4 months had both crescendoed in my life days before I was to fly away across the sea. And thus I arrive and do not chew on the relationship any more. But in reality my mind is like an unkempt garden these days.
Why I write this and also the first paragraph is that I miss Julia this week. An opportunity to visit Newcastle with each other is possible in the winter, and my dreams and hopes for fantasies are high. Not fantasies in disrespectful ways, but just dreamy and comfortable. An exercise in self control. Anyway. Re-reading normal people on the train ride home this evening (33% in) was not conducive to ridding my mind of these emotions. In fact, if I spent the week trying to flirt with Mai, I shouldn’t envy a different relationship. Flirting and biking in Copenhagen at the same time is very hard work…
I also want to read my parent journals at this time.
Anyway. I am strong in my faith these days, and I often feel the spirit strongly when I repent daily.
General Conference is tomorrow. President Nelson died a week ago.
Big things are happening. As is tradition in my past letters, maybe the world will have ended by the time I receive this.
Probably not though. Not everything has happened!
