Dear FutureMe,
Happy 35th birthday, my love!
You wrote this about 9 months ago, September of 2025, in what has arguably been one of the toughest years you've had to experience.
Work has been challenging since it began, your relationship ended a little under a year since the both of your decided to give it a second go, you've been reeling from the end of it and some days you think you're fine and then other days you're walking in the train station and you're overcome with sadness. You don't know what to do with your life because you've never been one to have a plan and the vision you did have - job wise, was taken away from you less than a month in, and the one you had that involved building a life with another got obliterated. It's a lot.
I have so much love for you and all that you've had to experience this year. Your carefree optimism feels a thing of the past and everything feels heavy and uncertain but I hope things have changed by now!
I hope that when you read this on your 35th birthday, you're proud of how you survived it all. I hope you've come out of that year stronger, clearer, braver, wiser and that the waters are less muddy now.
I hope you've figured out a way to work overseas and that you left that job that was dampening your soul. I hope that you chose a different hard and that it's worth it.
I hope you managed to find your way back to yourself - the self that loved travelling solo and exploring and experiencing new things or a new version of yourself that you've come to embrace and accept. I hope that everything at home is better, that Noah's better and Dad and Mom have been well.
You know, despite it all, you've managed to keep your wits about you. You've managed to still want to keep your heart open, you still want love and you believe in the good of things. You're taking steps to move in the direction you want. I'm so glad you have built that resilience and perspective for yourself. It's been a long time coming.
You should be so ******* proud of yourself.
Wherever you're at, whatever you're doing, whether you made it with the working overseas or not, I hope that you at least applied for your HFE letter to kickstart the homeowner process. I think it'll do you good to get your own place. A change of state. Haha but honestly, most importantly, I hope you're kind to yourself and that you're living on a timeline that you set for yourself. Please release the pressure of what you think you should've accomplished or where you think you should be. Life will pan out as it is meant to and even if you don't see the meaning or purpose or lesson, eventually you will. Trust the process. Remember that, always.
I love you, Desiree. Happy 35th birthday! Do yourself a favour and do something special for yourself, please. You deserve it.
Love,
Yourself from Sept 29, 2025
