Dear FutureMe,
I know things feel really hard right now, but don’t you dare get stuck here. At least try. Go after everything you want and stop waiting for the “right time.” Drop that weight, get serious about your fitness, fix your eating habits, and take your health back. Dance again, sing again — even if you never become Beyoncé, even if no career in music comes from it, at least you’ll know you gave yourself the chance. Go back to school and finally get your diploma. Stop putting it off. Do it for you. Go to therapy. Build a life that belongs to you, not one that just makes other people proud.
Open the café. Start the ice cream shop. Chase that degree in marine biology. Do everything — because there’s no such thing as “too much.” You turn 30 next year, and right now at 29, you feel like you’ve accomplished nothing. Don’t let that be the truth you carry forward. Make 30-year-old you proud. For me now, for you then, and for the little girl who dreamed of all this — please, just try.
And Amber… clean your ******* room. Clean your bathroom. Fix your debt. Fix your credit. Move out of the city and finally get your independence. You have to do something. I hope when you read this back, you can say you made me proud.
Love,
Amber
