Peaceful right?

Hiii future me! I am writing to you today on my 27th birthday. When you read this, you will be 28! How do you feel? You know, for the first part of this year, I was feeling quite afraid to be turning 27. It seems like such a serious sounding age. There's times where I feel like I should be much further ahead, whatever that means. A lot of people my age have their careers, homes, babies, marriages. I feel like I don't have any of that, I don't really. I do have my career I suppose, I am still building it but I have a very strong foundation. I left a job recently because I was very overworked and underpaid, and I knew I could do better at a new agency. It was a hard choice but I'm glad I did it. I have been off work for a month and a half now, and I will be starting a new job next week. I'm excited, and scared to be honest. Change is scary, new environments are uncomfortable. But we need to be uncomfortable sometimes to have access to better for ourselves. And I know this is a step in the right direction. I don't have a romantic relationship. It seems like so many people around me do. But when I really pay attention, it's not everyone. And then there's the large chunk of people that are in relationships but they don't seem happy or the way they treat each other is not very good. So sometimes I do stop and remind myself to appreciate the peace I have. I enjoy my own company, and I'm very independent. I'll be okay in the meantime. I'm trying to embrace being single. Sometimes I feel lonely of course but in the grand scheme, I'm okay. Hey, I'm just a lover girl so can you blame me for yearning a little here and there? lol! ANYWayyy - the point is this: I spent so much of this year being afraid of turning 27. But in the last month or so, I realized I didn't want to be afraid of being "almost thirty" I wanted to be excited. Because my life is in my own hands, and I can have whatever I want in this life - and a timeline is not necessary. I'm living on my own timeline. So, I'm leaning into this chapter of my life. I'm celebrating! I'm kind, I'm smart, I'm genuine, I'm ambitious, I'm a dreamer. I choose to lean into 27. I am so so excited for this next year and I truly mean that. This may be the first birthday where I look forward to continuing to work on my life. I can't wait to find out where I am in one year. Keep focusing on you, keep being kind. Be nice to mom, she loves you. I know she can be a lot sometimes lol! I think that's a right of passage of getting older, your parents start to annoy you in a new way but you love and cherish them to no end. There's so much love in her heart. Make sure dad is being good and watching his health. Hug them both for me. I'll meet you at 28, girly. Remember: deep breaths. You can do this! Be grateful. drink some water. one step at a time. Lots of love, past you :-) <3
