Dukkar, I think I should not call you that anymore. You do not even deserve a mention, let alone a thought. But I am writing this because I found out she arrived. Maybe that is why you stopped calling. Not that I expected a call from you, but knowing the reason that it is because of her hurts.
You are such a two-timer. When she was not around, you were all over me, acting like you cared. And the moment she came in picture, you just vanished. But no, it did not end there. Even after marrying her, you kept calling me over and over. I still do not know what your intentions were, but clearly, you were not loyal to her either. I honestly do not know how you are able to sleep at night.
Seriously, how do people like you exist? After everything I had to go through with Akshar, I thought I had seen it all. But no? You knew exactly what I was dealing with and still chose to take advantage. And then just disappeared. I never came to you. I never asked to be your friend or a part of your life. You reached out. You made those fake promises, saying you were serious, saying you would talk to your parents. What a liar.
I knew my situation. I knew it was complicated. But you kept insisting. You promised you would make it work. All of it was nonsense. I was stupid to trust you. I kept checking myself, keeping a distance, but eventually I gave in. I fell for your words, your effort, your persistence for smallest of things like just to get me to agree to go for dinner with you? Was it all just pretense? All for what? Did I ever actually mean anything to you?
How could you do this to someone? It has been a year and I am still not okay. I hope that when this letter is delivered to me next year as scheduled, I feel better.
God, when will this end? How do I get rid of this feeling? I want to ask him. I want to slap him. How dare he? But I will not reach out. That is why I am writing here. Shreya, give it time. And if next year, when you read this, if you still feel doing so, then send this. Use your discretion. Just remember, feeling pain, heartbreak, betrayal, it is horrible. And going through it back to back just makes it harder. But even that, it is still better than living with the guilt of causing that kind of pain to someone else.
The damage he caused cannot be undone. But at least I can put the blame where it belongs and try to move on. What I do not get is how he looks at himself in the mirror knowing the pain he has caused in other people’s lives. I have seen my sister break down watching me fall apart.
I am lucky to have her. She stood by me through everything. Thank you, God. I am forever grateful for the family you gave me. And also, thank you for the tough lessons. The ones I did not ask for but clearly needed. Thank you for the good and the bad. Thank you for everything.
I promise I will keep getting stronger, day by day. And I will not let You or my parents down. God, be with me, as always! ❤️
