A letter from Jul 26, 2025

Time Travelled — 12 months

Peaceful right?

When you've read this letter, a year would've already passed. You probably got a letter around may and now you're getting another letter in July. Did you regret anything? I'm sure your regrets can't be counted on just one hand. Did you fail on staying rational? Fall into bad habits? Maybe you even forgot about your promise. Well, even if that were the case I doubt you'd give up. Sure, you could get stuck-up for months, sometimes even years. But you never did give up, did you? Now, I know the "promise" is a little ambiguous but you'll realize it, or don't, it's fine. This is just a letter from the past, the importance you put won't affect the present me now. The last time I read a letter from the past, I laughed. It was funny, future me. I didn't think a year could make so much difference and so little. I haven't changed since that past, my choice of words and emotional responses haven't changed. What I cared about, what I thought, I was shaped by what I consumed. Maybe I could've been different had I not chased after those fleeting pleasures. I hope to see, hear, feel my reaction, your reaction to this letter. Perhaps you're laughing right now? Maybe even reminiscing to the best time of your life? Hah. I'm kidding of course. I'm sure the peace I feel right now isn't the only highlight of the 1 year this letter takes to reach you. I can't provide you with a rich topic to think of, and I can't provide articulate messages. But what I can provide is the present. My present. Future self, I truly am happy that I've realized the ecstasy of letting go. I stopped putting excessive value in what I do, but simply did it. What else do I say.. Oh yes, myself, do you still care for people? I know it's a cynical question but I've experienced it. It's a feeling that was hard to control, It consumed me, at that time, I could careless about the people I care about. So I want to ask you, are you cynical, self? Not like that's my problem. As I've recited before, I'll live and do as I please. That doesn't mean I will fall into bad habits and start doing unhealthy things. I just don't like shackles. Whatever you do, fails, achieve your goals, connect with many people, whatever happens, that's none of my business. I don't care for the future, whether or not it's catastrophic. I'll simply leave and do as I please, for that is what my freedom is. Thank you, future self. You're probably going to senior high school by now, well, if you haven't that's fine too. We'll let fate decide that.
