A letter from June 12th, 2025

Time Travelled — 6 months

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, By the end of this year, you should have completed your degree in Strategic Brand Communication. It took you two extra years to finish, and I know how many challenges you had to overcome along the way - but look at you! You prevailed. And that’s what you’ve always done so well: changing your circumstances for the better.
By now, you should be six months into your new job. I know that, in this moment - the 12th of June - you’re feeling incredibly scared about what’s to come in this role. You’re wondering if you’ll manage all your responsibilities and meet your KPIs. But let me remind you: you are you. There is literally nothing you cannot do when you put your mind to it.
Your children’s book should have been submitted by now. Maybe you haven’t received feedback yet (publishing takes time), but remember: even if it’s not accepted, you can self-publish. What you have to say matters deeply - children will learn so much from it while having fun reading.
By now, Mabe Management should have at least two consistent clients. You’ve got this - your skills in brand strategy are powerful and impactful. You should also be in the process of applying to the Marketing Association of South Africa to become an Associate Marketer.
You should have applied for your Honours by now and feel confident about your next steps in furthering your studies in Marketing Management.
Hopefully, you’ve attended at least four conferences this year and finally done your passport and driver’s license (lol). You should have also paid off most of your debts. I hope you’re enjoying your money by investing in your favorite collections: books, handbags, and phinifas (because you’re well on your way to becoming a Zulu wife, lol).
I hope you’ve normalized therapy, stayed consistent with your self-care, and sharpened your ability to discern men - your peace comes first. And I really hope you’ve started golf lessons, even if it’s just three or four. You need to learn how to play - no excuses!
I hope the mentorship program you joined has connected you to amazing people, and that you’ve built a solid network of mentors who now form part of your personal “board of directors.”
Lastly, I hope you’ve found the love of your life -  and that you’re in a kind, genuine, deeply fulfilling relationship.
With love and pride, You
