Dear FutureMe,
To My Future Self
Right now, my mantra is simple: Go with the flow. I’m not overly fixated on what lies ahead, but I do wonder—where are you now? Today, I’m a first-year college student taking up Bachelor of Science in Technology Communication Management. Life has its fair share of challenges, and money seems to be the biggest one at the moment. Did we make it? Did we graduate? How is Mama? How is our little sibling? Has Papa reached out? Are we financially stable now?
Setting aside financial difficulties, I’ve realized that one of the hardest battles is Me vs. Me. It’s an internal and external struggle, but it’s shaping me into someone stronger and more self-aware. It’s teaching me to embrace who I am and who I’m becoming.
There’s this thought I hold onto—not exactly wisdom, but it’s become my personal mantra: “Proper ignorance is bliss.” It reminds me to protect my peace, to focus on what truly matters, and to let go of things I cannot control.
To my future self, I hope you’ve found your rhythm. I hope you’re living life unapologetically and authentically. I hope you’ve embraced every version of yourself—the flaws, the growth, and the beauty of it all. Whatever you’ve achieved, however far you’ve come, I hope you’re proud of the journey. Keep going, keep growing. You've got this.
