A letter from Apr 30, 2025

On this poetry assignment I learned a lot about making something out of what is seemingly just a small prompt, to something meaningful and beautiful. I learned a lot about myself, like how poetry is an outlet for me to express my emotions and it is a great way for me to do that. Some challenges I faced were trying to find things to write about but I looked at things going on in my life and the world around me and put that into my theme and into a poem. I really admired my classmates who did more elaborate displays with multiple pieces to them, I think that would be really interesting to have a more 'physical' and 'visual' display like that. I left lots of compliments for others! It gave me an appreciation for others work and I learned that there is a lot to look for in poetry and everyone has their own unique way to capture that. From the compliments I received I learned that there are other people who relate to my writing and poetry, even the most vulnerable poems.
