Dear FutureMe,
Assalamu aleykum to you.
Life is hard right now. We are a sleep deprived surgery resident in a low income country. Overworked. Underpaid. I mean, not paid at all. We live 25 kms away from the hospital so we have to wake up at 4 am and then we arrive back home late. Sometimes even at 10 pm. Our co residents are boot lickers, cheaters and liars. And that would be acceptable if at least they did their work. But they don't and it falls back on us. My head has been hurting for a week straight. My nose's bleeding and I have to reduce the unholy amount of coffee I ingest because Ramadan just started.
I know I complain a lot, but everything is not terrible I promise. But I hope it does get better. So I pray you got rid of your acne, that you found the money to fix your teeth so you're not ashamed to smile and talk to people. I pray you got the fellowship to the US and then the scholarship to the UK and you are now trying to be the best surgeon you can be so you will come back to help heal people. I pray you are less lonely and you found people who understand you and love you. I pray you became a better muslim. Are maintaining your prayers, having tawwakul, being grateful and making lots and lots of istighfar. I pray you are healthy and your family is healthy. Hang in there.
