Dear FutureMe,
It’s hard to believe that just 12 months ago, I was starting this incredible journey at ALX, diving into the world of software engineering with all the excitement and anticipation of what the future holds. Now, here we are—just six months away from that big milestone where everything comes together: graduation, new challenges, and most importantly, new opportunities.
By now, I hope that you’re not just surviving, but thriving in the tech world. I hope you’ve secured a job at a tech company that aligns with your passion and interests—whether it’s a well-established company or an innovative startup. I imagine you’re working on exciting projects, contributing to something meaningful, and learning from talented colleagues. Your job should feel like a space where you can truly grow and bring value, and I believe you’ve found that.
I also hope that your network has expanded significantly. In the past six months, I hope you’ve made strong connections with industry professionals—mentors, peers, and leaders in tech. I trust you’ve attended meetups, conferences, or maybe even collaborated on projects outside of your formal work. These connections will open doors, so I know you’ve been making the most of them.
I know that getting into tech is competitive, and there may have been moments when it felt like progress was slow. But I believe that you’ve kept pushing forward, applying to roles, and improving your skills with every new challenge. I hope you’ve not only aced your technical interviews but also developed the confidence to express your abilities and passion during those conversations.
Beyond just landing the job, I hope you’re looking toward the future, setting new goals for your career. Maybe you’ve started to explore specialized areas like artificial intelligence, machine learning, or cybersecurity. Perhaps you’ve even taken on leadership roles or side projects that align with your interests. Wherever you are in your career, I trust that you’re setting the stage for long-term success.
Above all, I hope you’re proud of the work you’ve put in and how far you’ve come. Six months from now, I want you to look back and see growth—not just in your technical expertise but in your ability to adapt, learn, and excel in a rapidly changing industry. I have no doubt that the best is yet to come.
Keep pushing. Keep learning. And most importantly, keep believing in yourself.
I can’t wait to see everything you’ve accomplished.
With excitement and pride,
Patience Nkatha,
Future Software Engineer
