Dear FutureMe,
You, my friend, are a writer. After reminding so many others of the same, it's time to pat yourself on the back and say, "Actually, *I'm* a writer, too."
You've added more bylines to your imaginary bookshelf, and you've completed a manuscript for your first book. You've made new friends and been embraced by new mentors along the way. *YOU* did these things. You made it possible because you believed in yourself, and you did the work every week, just a little at a time.
You're on track to pay down that debt you took on to get where you are. (Remember that, sometimes, debt is OK to further your plans.)
You have an agent. WHAT?! Yes, you do!
You're in the process of working with your agent to sell your manuscript and get a book deal. (In fact, by the time you actually read this, your book deal might already be in the works!)
You're in a good place financially, not worried, and you've got money in the bank.
You *feel* like a writer. Not just like a woman pretending to be one.
Take a moment to stop. Like, a literal moment, right now.
Stop reading this and pause and savor it.
Have a moment of silence for *yourself* and all you've accomplished in the last year.
I'll wait...
Doesn't it feel great? This moment?
Yes. Yes, it does. And it's just one of the many to come.
But don't let this be "the" thing that makes you feel comfortable. It's always too soon for that.
Getting comfortable means you're not continuing the work. To make progress. To write.
Don't get comfortable. Keep challenging yourself and creating. Right now, the world needs more of your unique voice—of *all* unique voices.
You are a wonder to behold. And you are magical. You create to bring more joy into the world.
Say those things out loud now.
Here, I'll make it easy. Read them out loud, to yourself:
I am a wonder to behold.
I am magical.
I create to bring more joy into the world.
❤️
Big hugs, You. (Maybe even give yourself a hug right now.) You've earned this moment.
With love,
Me
