Dear FutureMe,
I’m writing this letter to you 6 days after New Year's Day for an English assignment. I wanted to touch on what good things happened to you during 2024. Thankfully we made a list of good things starting from January 1st, 2024 to wherever it died off in November. Hopefully, I can get back on track and follow through with the good thing jar this year. So here are some memorable things that went well:
You went out more and had a bunch more experiences that you never thought you would have in high school. Most of these moments were with friends like when you, Susan, and Sophie hung out in the neighborhood and went to the pool. Or when you had your first friends giving with the biggest friend group you've ever been in! You laughed a lot this year and managed to survive 3 talking stages!!! Went “camping” (teen pep) for the first time and even got my first sleeping bag to do so. You experimented a lot with the color of your braids and the hair styles you wore and managed to look great in every single one of them
I just wanted you to also pat yourself on the back because 2024 has to be one of the most productive years of your high school career so far! You became poet laureate, you performed on stage for the first time, you were in the BYA fashion show, you made varsity cross country, you took your first AP class and passed with flying colors, you ran your first 4x4’s, your ceramic pieces made it into the display case (multiple times), you had your very first embroidery commission and at this point, I’m just bragging. But you should be proud of yourself for coming from doing nothing to literally making a book with your classmates!! I hope that the short film with Ololade comes out fire, you get grills with Ray, you make big moves with your Poet Laureate role, get better academically and athletically, and overall just straight-up success for this new year. I still haven’t been able to think of any resolutions but when I do I hope you complete at least 3 of them. But no matter what happens I want you to stay true to yourself and be happy :)
