Dear FutureMe,
It’s November 2024. I hope you know how proud I am of everything you want to achieve and have achieved. Right now, it’s a very difficult time with uni; the internship is starting soon, and you're worried about the future and the new city you'll be moving to for your master’s. But I think it will be the best decision you will ever make to leave your hometown and find a second home in the city that stole your heart so many years ago.
I know you don’t want to leave your parents because you think they will be sad forever over it. But by not leaving, you're neglecting your own wants and needs. It’s your life, and the only one you'll get. I hope you are selfish for once in your life and also remember that everyone wants you to be happy and to put yourself first, just as they would themselves.
Do it for the girl who was crying in that city apartment after spending a week there, because she didn’t want to leave. For the girl who, right in this moment, could envision her whole life right before her eyes. She was mourning the life she saw for a second and losing it the next. She knew, right then and there, that she needed to end up here again to become who she always longed to be and never quite reached.
Love,
Yourself
