Dear FutureMe,
Here’s a poem you wrote about jomiloju
Feelings come and go,
Just like the seasons during the year,
Each of them wonderful but different in their own rights.
Feelings like seasons are both good and bad,
Basking in the warmth of the sun during summer,
being locked outside in the cold during winter
Spending time outside with friends during spring
stepping on a leaf that was just covering some dog poo during autumn
Making everlasting memories that won’t fade, whether you want them to or not
But the feeling’s shes given are different,
Piercing my icy cold heart.
Before her I was scared,
Scared to have a favourite season,
Scared to have a favourite person.
But like the seasons that changed.
Unlike the seasons, my feelings didn’t change at all.
An evergreen was planted in my heart,
Never losing its leaves,
Standing strong all throughout the year.
At first my heart panicked,
Sending lumberjack after lumberjack,
Building walls to stop her from taking root in my heart.
But to no avail, this tree knew what to say to let itself stay
And now it’s taken root,
Meeting all of my siblings to boot,
Spending time together making memories,
Slowly getting to know eachother on this love journey.
This evergreen’s grown so large,
Though scarred from storms,
It stands strong at its base
Showcasing the strength of our love for each other.
Feelings and seasons change so swiftly,
But what we have is more than feelings.
You are the evergreen that’s taken root in my heart.
And I hope and pray we’ll never be apart
