Dear FutureMe,
I wrote this letter yesterday to Love Letters in a recent survey:
I (a girl) had a Thing with a former friend (a guy) a few years ago where we liked each other and flirted over text but neither one of us said it outright. Things got weird and even though we had a direct conversation about our feelings, it felt too late on my end and I just wanted to move on. Over the years, I have thought about him, dreamt about him and even written letters to him that I still keep with me. I should mention that he was my classmate in university so we would still say hello in class but that was usually it. I have just finished uni now and I know that we might not cross paths as often anymore. He's still friends with a lot of my friends so I might probably see him again. Anyways, I wonder if I made a mistake by not trying things again with him. Should I have told him about my residual feelings? Should I have given him the letters? Should I leave things up to fate and see whether we'll click again at the right time? It is worth mentioning that he has a girlfriend currently and the last thing I would want is to ruin his current love story in a desperate bid to restart our own.
