Dear FutureMe,
I am grateful for the woman I have become—a more refined version of myself, now better equipped with the knowledge needed to navigate various aspects of life. Trust me, it is evident in this letter. Let me take you back: the last time I wrote to you was in 2021 during my first year as a Teach for Nigeria fellow. I only had a few words to say—just a sentence or two—because my life vision was blurry, and that was the first time I ever wrote to you.
I feel elated that you know I am enjoying my job as a teacher and that my side hustle as a realtor is thriving.
Looking back from 2020 through 2022, I made mistakes, wrong decisions, and choices, but I’m grateful that they shaped me into a better version of myself. 😘 2023 till now has been filled with so many lessons; of course, we keep learning every day.
Oh, FutureMe, I will write you a thank-you message very soon for the resilience, determination, and great effort you have put into pursuing your master’s at the University of California, Berkeley. As we both know, quality education is something I have always wanted. Lately, I have developed a flair for research and methodology in social and behavioral science in the field of psychology. Exploring this would really be a great adventure. By the grace of God, in 2025, I will start my application. I would love to start now, but due to financial constraints, I will wait until January 2025. However, I will start writing now.
My dear self, as much as I desire to have a family someday, the uncertainty surrounding this desire has overwhelmed my hope. At 30, I do not have a man in my life. 😂 Well, if he does show up, good for us, and if not, I promise you a beautiful life, enjoying every moment of it.
Overall, I promise you that I will be earning my master’s at the University of California, Berkeley, and taking up a job in a research agency. Whether marriage comes or not, I promise you an enjoyable and fulfilling life.😘
