A letter from Aug 17, 2024

Time Travelled — 12 months

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, Hey Abigail! Last time you wrote a letter to yourself you were a freshman in high school. You had no idea where your life was going but look at where you've come. Lets recap. You graduated school a year early, got kicked out of college, had a very serious relationship, ended it, got into a terrible relationship, ended it, made terrible friends and met your best friend, got into another serious relationship (really hoping this one sticks fr) Attempted suicide, learned to love again, got brave, got strong, cried a lot, laughed a lot. I'm proud of you. But the fun of writing yourself letters is to ask where you are now. So today is August 17, 2024. You'll get this in August of 2025. I have some major questions. Did Jackson propose? are you still together? did he go back to school? did you get a job down there and join him? did you stick with your career in Marriott? Did you go to culinary school? do you even want to anymore? Still friends with Rachel? anything better with dad? mom still annoying? did you move out? How is your relationship with Jesus? (if you cringed reading that last sentence then as soon as you finish reading this pull out your Bible you stupid) Are you happy? Who won the election? how is the state of the world right now? did you get married?? do you still struggle with lust? did you manage to re wait until marriage? Are you ok with where you are now? what would you change if you could? still no kids? no want for them either? how many cats did you get? any fun pets like a raccoon or monkey? are you a "trad wife" and make all your own food from scratch? what's the craziest news that's happened that you remember? did you ever get any comfort in your health? see a chiropractor? see an obgyn? get your hormones tested? your lungs improve? get a new car? started saving for one? I love you. I am so sorry you dealt with so much as a younger teenager and I am so proud that at the very least you don't struggle like you did. even a little amount of progress is progress none the less. even if it feels like your world is falling apart right now its only falling into place. You are really pretty right now. Some days you don't feel it, but you really are a pretty girl. you struggle really heavily with lust, and when you stray far from God you become a pretty angry person which we obviously try and avoid. you're funny and swaggy and have really started to enjoy the feeling of drinking, or maybe the idea of it makes you feel like an adult. you drink a lot of Dr pepper and love chicken tenders. You love classical music. you don't make a lot of money, 15$ an hour but its enough to save for an apartment. you kinda isolate yourself from your family because they drive you crazy. I hope theyre all alive by the time you get this. that would suck otherwise. you and Jackson have been together almost a year. you just went through a major rough patch where neither of you thought you'd make it through still together but things seem to be getting better. tell him you love him more. be verbal with your affection, it means a lot to him. learn to let things go, he's trying even if it doesn't feel like it all the time, he works really hard to love and provide for you. if I'm to imagine where my life is by the time you get this letter I'm gonna be optimistic. I hope youre married and happy, went on your honeymoon and got an awesome tan with a really handsome guy. I hope you moved out, hopefully to Florida but if things go left then possibly Texas. I hope you managed a girls trip over the summer. I hope you and your parents get along much better, not that things are hostile. I just avoid them, hopefully distance makes the heart grow fond. I hope you became an AGM with marriott and have a plan to open a bakery, even if its a home bakery right now. I can't think of anything else to say. I'll see you in a year :)
