A letter from Aug 17, 2024

Dear Future Gabriela, I hope with all my heart this email finds you doing so well. That’s all I have ever wanted for you. I leave for school in a few days, or I am supposed to. I still have no idea how I am going to pay my rent. I am really scared and really anxious. Are you in a sorority now? You were so excited to rush, did you stick with Tri Delta or did you find another house that suited you better? I am so curious. Tell me how your grades are, I hope you raised that GPA! You need to get it up to go to med school! I hope you didn’t let the excitement of college get in the way of what you are there for- your dreams. How is Ivan? Have you talked to him at all recently? Hopefully this doesn’t make you sad anymore. Do you love him still? Right now I am at a year, this email will find YOU at 2 years. I hope that you are doing better by now. I hope that you have found someone that you love so much, kissing them makes you feel like you are going to faint. (Just like Heaven reference). Don’t forget that I am your biggest fan and your biggest supporter. I wish with all my heart and soul that you are doing better than I am right now, because it will have meant that this all was for something. I hope that you travelled the world this summer, like you always do. I hope that you went back to Italy. Reconnected. Maybe you went back to London, or Greece. Let me know if you ever made it to Chicago, and what that was like. I hope mama and papa are doing great. I hope they still love each other and aren’t stressing themselves out too much. Don’t be a pain in their butts. Some small part of me hopes that you reconnected with our dad, but I understand if you didn’t. Remember how proud I am of you. Love, You
