Dear Future Self,
It's 24 June 2024, and I'm sitting down to write you this letter instead of tackling my maths homework—surprise, surprise! I guess some things never change. By the time you read this, I really hope you've conquered those pesky number fears we both have!
As I sit here in Year 6, I can't help but wonder what life will be like for you as you enter Year 7. Will you make tons of new friends and join a bunch of cool clubs? Maybe you'll finally muster the courage to try out for the school play or plunge into the deep end of the pool during swim class! I can't wait to hear about all your adventures in secondary school!
Now, let’s be honest: you’re still just 12, so I’m pretty sure pizza is still your go-to meal. I hope you haven’t traded it out for some weird adult food like quinoa or kale salad. (Yuck!) But if you have, I guess the world can't end up all bad if you can make it work, right?
On a more serious note (just for a moment, I promise!), I hope you’re being extra nice to Mum and Dad. They might still be on your back about chores, schoolwork, and all that boring stuff, but they're just trying to help you grow into the best version of yourself. Please remember to listen to them and show them some love—you know they’ll always be your biggest supporters.
As for what you're doing with your life, I hope you’ve found something that lights a spark in you, whether that's art, sports, or maybe even playing in a band with friends. Just know that being a rockstar isn't all about the glitz and glam. It's also about falling down, getting back up, and learning to play your own tune, even if that means jamming out in the garage!
No pressure, though! If things don’t go exactly as planned, just roll with it. Remember when you fell out of bed from exhaustion on the second day of Year 6? Those moments make for the best memories! Let that spirit guide you as you tackle whatever challenges come your way.
So, as you step into Year 7, don’t forget to have fun, stay true to yourself, and keep shining your unique light! And if you ever feel like running away to join the circus, just remember that your family will always be there for you!
From,
Your slightly awkward but totally excited 11-year-old self
