Dear FutureMe,
Its early in the morning here in Fairview and I'm undergoing another PD dialysis exchange before going back to bed again. Ii's almost a month since I was confined at the VMMC for tenkchoff catheter insertion and for the commencement of my PD journey. Who would have thought that I will be on dialysis by the age of 43? I asked myself the question "why me?" I still don't know the answer and maybe I will never know the answer. Maybe this is God's challenge or plan for me. Maybe He wanted me to be an instrument, to send a message, that life and health is more important than work and fame and prestige. That there should be a balance in everything that we do. Maybe a year from now I'll be better and well-adjusted with life as s CKD warrior. Maybe in two years time I'll be back in South Korea or Japan travelling again or enjoying a BTS concert with Nina (an Army friend). Who knows? All I can say is Future Hailey, you can do this! Your present self is rooting for your full recovery and healing, as well as your success, happiness and peace. Continue to love yourself. 💜
See you in the future,
Hailey from 2023
