A letter from August 28th, 2023

Time Travelled — almost 3 years

Peaceful right?

Dear Future Me, My therapist is a Buddist and he shares so much wisdom with me. He helped me recently see the value and peace that comes with finding ways to love others through their flaws and shortcomings. It recently came to light that my maternal grandfather, age 89, has lived an entire lifetime of infidelity with mistresses and such. Then I have some friends who, in their own ways, are acting in ways that are disrespectful and selfish. Deep down, I want to believe, and it will benefit me to believe, that these people are good people and have some level of good intentions. And my therapist has counseled me in trying very hard to deliberately find ways to love others through their flaws and through their imperfections. That has led to a lot of forgiveness and freedom in my own life. Find ways to love others instead of finding ways to criticize them. Choose love.
