Dear FutureMe,
Today I downloaded and installed Debian from an ISO. I think this is the first time I’ve ever done that. I’ve had Debian installed for me on an Amazon vm; but I don’t think I have ever installed it on my own.
Apache can be configured “the Debian way” which is the way Ubuntu does it. I would have used Ubuntu except that they have recently changed the way they do things and now do not supply patches for non-core packages unless one signs up for a subscription (free at the moment, but that won’t last).
So the safer move is just to abandon Ubuntu over time.
Thus this new box is now Debian.
My favorite desktop is still OpenSuSE, but their Apache configuration is the prior-to-Debian-way, and I really like the a2enable and a2disable and subdirectory configuration.
So I get to learn Debian now.
