A letter from Aug 02, 2023

Dear Future Me, I'm currently writing to you as your 19 year-old rising college sophomore self. It is almost the beginning of the year so I figured it would be a great time to write about my current life status, my goals for the year, my hopes and fears, and just talk to you as I know this letter will most likely catch you off guard. This summer has been the busiest summer I've ever had. I was elected as Co-Cultural Chair for FCA and I've been in meetings so often for planning, I got hired at TwoHands at the mall so I've been working to try and save money for the school year/future, and I've decided to start getting back into the dating world LOL. It hasn't been too successful, but that's completely fine with me. I actually really like my alone time. Anyway, I wanted to say that freshman year was an amazing time and I'm so blessed IAP helped me get to experience that and meet so many new people in the process like miss vippy. I really do love her and I'm gonna miss not living with her so much, but my soon to be roomie doesn't seem too bad either. I think we'll get along. My goals for the school year are to maintain a 3.5 GPA, manage my time wisely, still make time to go out, keep up with the gym, and possibly gain more experience for my resume (education wise). I'm still thinking of pursuing radiology at MC post-graduation so I hope I can find healthcare experience during the summer. I'll reach back out to my mentor and the career center to see what I can do. I'm also trying to get my credits out of the way so I can go to Italy junior year!!! I'm really trying to take advantage o the fact that IAP will cover it, as it's probably the only time in my life I'll basically have a trip paid for. So I'm so excited and I really hope you get to visit your dream destination. :) As for dating, I've realized I'm very indecisive about whether or not I want to actually be in a relationship or not. I think that's okay? I'm still really young and I have so many other things in life to look forward to and build on. However, I hope that you're able to let your guard down enough for someone to love the real you. I know it's gonna be scary because of what happened last time, but I promise that you are JUST as deserving and worthy of the love you dream of as you were before that relationship ever happened. I love you and someone else will be grateful you give them the chance to love you so deeply. I hope you are successful when you read this letter, and more importantly, happy. I cannot wait to see how my future classroom is decorated and what memories I'll be looking back on as proof of a fulfilling college experience. Say yes to more things!!! I want to be able to have so many storytimes and be the cool teacher :) Love, Lailai
