A letter from April 9th, 2023

Dear FutureMe, Happy birthday! you’re finally 19, huh? I hope you don’t think 16 year old you is too stupid. You know I’m trying my best to get you where you want to be, and I hope that, wherever you are right now, that you are truly happy before anything else and I hope that I helped you achieve some of your goals. Hey 19 year old me, do you love life? And if you could go back and say something to 16 year old you, what would you say? Maybe be more disciplined? I don’t know. But regardless, I’m trying my best, and I hope you have a person by your side to truly love all of you, but if not, that’s okay too, because I know you’re strong and I know you can do it by yourself. 19 year old me, do we finally truly love ourself? I think I love myself right now, but not to the fullest, so I would like to love myself more. And please tell me that you are still playing piano. It’s our passion. Please don’t give up on it, no matter how many times you fail and how hard it gets. I don’t know why but I’m tearing up as I’m writing this, I have this bittersweet feeling. I feel like you will be okay, and I feel like you will get where you want. Keep going. If you fall down, get up. Keep fighting. For yourself, and for me. If you don’t get told enough, I love you 19 year old me. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I love you. Keep yourself happy, safe and healthy. I hope you are not forgetting to drink water too. You know it’s important for your body, you have to take care of it because it works hard for you. If you still hate your scars, learn to love them because they tell a story. Live your life for me, do what you want and don’t think about what others might think of it. Put yourself out there, you are meant to outshine the rest. And lastly, breathe and take your time to appreciate life. Time goes fast, appreciate living in this beautiful world. There are so many beautiful places that you can visit. I want you to do that, visit as many places as you can. Live your life to the fullest and remind yourself that you are a loved girl. I love you, 19 year old me.
