Dear FutureMe,
I once came across the story about the frog that died because it felt weak to jump out of the boiling water in the end. As the heat of the water rises, it adjusts its body to adapt to the change, sacrificing its strength to the point that it can't jump. So it died.
Another one is the short video about the fleas that has been stuck in a jar for 10 years. that when the experiment was done, and the lid of the jar was taken off, none of the fleas attempted to escape or leave the jar. Because they have grown to be comfortable to that little world inside.
Apparently, that's all they know, a prison that eventually became their safe place.
Now that you're finally 30 years old.
I just want to greet you with a happy birthday.
I hope you don't mind me asking,
but will you try new things now?
Will you try to embody that fire sign in you?
Will you finally be a centaur, ready to use your bow in hunting?
Are you ready to leave and explore this wide world?
Or have you turned into a frog?
A flea in a jar?
What kind of person do you plan to be from this point onwards?
Whatever reason you have now, I hope it's not an excuse.
Please remember my frustrations, my resignation to this life that I have now, hoping that someday, a version of me will be braver.
Are you the one that I've been hoping to be?
Are you ready to pursue that happiness?
Will you finally allow me to live?
Will you help me be free from everything?
Will you help me be happy?
Are you finally on my side now?
I hope that this 30-year old me is.
Happy birthday self.
