Time Travelled — almost 3 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, You spent your 20’s with a care-free responsibility free attitude of, ‘the more money you make the more money you spend’. Whilst it was probably in rebellion to your parent’s frugality; it meant that whilst you’ve had some fun experiences (travelling, working on a cruise ship, living on the Gold Coast) you had nothing to show for it financially. That is until now. As I’m writing this I’ve saved up 1 3rd of what is needed for a house deposit. I’m ogling some apartments in M.L. (which include a pool and gym and are located near public transport); which unfortunately will probably be sold by the time I have my house deposit. That’s alright; I’m sure there will be other houses to fall in love with. I’m currently living at *** working as a petrol station attendant in the hopes of building my experience up enough to get me the same job back home. If I’m honest (& understating things) I’m not getting along with my fellow workers as much as I’d like, but the slight discomfort of this is outweighed by the financial freedom to be found here. I have made some fun memories (in less than a year I counted and listed 100+ events)! I’ve also had many friends come and go; but I’m trying to build up fun experiences and close friendships that will last. I’m still in contact with a few of my friends back home via discord (Facebook also helps to a degree). It seems I’ve traded health with finances- meaning whilst in my 20s (for the most part) I had an abundance of health (& severe lack of financial responsibility) that’s swapped. I have since coming here averaged 10kms of movement a day, and I’m currently training for a half marathon (a massive feat considering that last year I couldn’t run for 1 minute)! I’m also experimenting with fasting. However- in spite of this I’m currently 91 kilos (on the bright side that’s 12 kilos lighter than at my heaviest- 7 kilos have been lost since my time here). In my 20s I stayed around 50-60kilos, I’m hoping to not make 80s-90s the trend for my 30s. Hopefully by the time this email/letter from futureme.org finds me I’ll have shed more weight - with 75ish kilos feeling like a realistic ideal. I’m trying to read more with audible, and become more holistically healthy too. I’m currently unsure of how long I’ll stay here, but in future mining work seems like an appealing way of working hard, saving hard, FT work etc whilst allowing me to see family and friends more regularly. That MIGHT be the best next step. Another part of me considers swapping careers after building up my experience enough, and trying out the GSA role (in the hopes of working up the ranks and padding my resume positively); but there’s a chance I’ll tire of life here before that happens. Current (past) K** is excited to see what the future brings and what I’ll decide. It may very well be that at the time of receiving this message I’ll still be in *** in order to not just save for the perfect house, but also the perfect (relatively cheap) car. I’m sure whatever I decide will have been weighed up well 💪🏻. I hope you read this message proud of yourself (both current and past) for becoming healthier, happier and more stable (career-wise etc). Maybe one day you’ll be ready for a full marathon who knows!!! It would be lovely if you’re reading this & are closer to your 20’s weight- or if in the very least you have a greater pride in your body and where it has taken you. Kind regards and with lots of love and care, K.
