Dear FutureMe,
So, where are you now? Can you believe that you are thirty already? I'm still coming to terms with the fact that I'm nearly 27, time passes faster the older you get, I don't care what Einstien says!
I hope you are better now, do you remember how bad things got? I know you well enough to know that you'll be fine, regardless of how it feels now. I keep telling myself that I'm getting all the bad stuff over with all at once so that the rest of my life will be roses. I hope that it's true, but I have to tell you that I'm jealous of you!
Let me tell you how sorry I am for what I'm doing to you at the moment. I know that I shouldn't hurt myself, but I can't help it. I know you will understand, but I know you will still be cross! Get angry, hold the feeling for the count of twenty (I nearly said ten, but I don't think that would be long enough!) then let it go. Just accept that I can be an idiot sometimes, along with just about everybody else in the world. It sounds so easy, I hope you can do it because I can't right now. You are meant to get wiser as you get older so I'm not sure how much use any pearls of wisdom from a younger you are going to be!
Did you ever finish that walk? All of it with no cheating?! I hope so, it feels like a goal at the moment and that's something I really need at the moment. Did you ever see those bloody birds? ;)
There are so many things I wish for you, I can't wait to find out what happens. I hope you've moved. If you haven't you will probably be reading this from an institution or won't be reading it at all, having thrown yourself off something high! It will be somewhere nice, I know that much. Somewhere quiet but close to somewhere noisy! I'm sure the cat will love it (how is he, by the way? Still eating like a horse?).
You don't need to change the car, enjoy the money instead. Unless you've got heaps of it to spare. Fingers crossed!
Phone the publisher. If you haven't started book two yet you had better have a good excuse. Some dreams just have to be realised however impossible they seem.
If you still aren't slim and lovely do something about it. I'm doing what I can now, but you've probably got better ideas!
If you aren't enjoying your job remember that you promised me you'd find another one. You've faffed about with so many different ones by now that you should have the right skills for just about any job. Just make sure that it is at least double minimum wage, being broke sucks and I can't bear the thought of staring at the fuel light for three days in a row hoping that the money fairy will turn up until I'm you.
Remember your friends. They've been so good to me that you will have to return the favour. Just remember that you wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them.
I hope that life is more balanced now. I want there to be no more dark days for you, if you still get the odd one now and then it is probably just to remind you how good you've got it the rest of the time.
You are a better person than you think, just be a little kinder to yourself. Wherever you are, you've achieved great things - don't listen to anybody if they tell you otherwise (esp. yourself).
A big hug and I'm thinking of you,
xxx
