Dear FutureMe,
So I hear you're turning 30 today. God, there were some tough times, huh? I can remember how sometimes you never imagined you'd make it past 18. Now you've grown so much since then... or have you? Guess that's a question for you to answer, FutureMe.
When you read this and think about your life over the last three decades, I hope you gain some perspective. Remember how you sometimes used to feel so lonely? Like no one in the world ever cared about you. Did you ever break that habit? Have you spoken to your mother yet? It's been nearly a year now. I guess your brother got married without any major problems. Were you happy for him, or just jealous? Are you in love? Does she know it? Does she even know you exist, or are you still too afraid to say anything? Are you still volunteering with foster children and stray animals? Or did you give up on all that shit as hopeless? Have you forgiven those that hurt you? Have you forgiven yourself? Did you ever write your dad that letter?
Do you like who you are? Seriously. Do you like who you are? This is the one moment where you should stop and be honest with me. Do you like yourself?
If you still don't, maybe you should get started on that...
I hope this email finds you well. I hope you've learned to stop being afraid. I hope you have a love in your life. I hope I didn't let you down...
