Dear FutureMe,
Hello college-graduated Mikayla. It's me, well us in 2023. I struggled with choosing how long this message should wait to deliver to you, because I am not sure when or if you would want to hear from me. I am scared that you aren't proud of me the way I am of you. But hopefully, within three years you will have forgiven me.
I look up to you. Yearning to exist in a period of life where you are happy.
I'm studying the map to get there.
I have been working on my typical negative narrative, for you. I have been putting extra hours into my work and school, for you. I have been patient and kind with myself when it comes to progression, for you. I am taking control, for you.
Although I am not quite there yet, I hope that you learned to be a little more selfish when it comes to your needs and wants.
But most importantly, I hope you are enjoying the fruits of our labor. We deserve it.
Say Hi to Mom and Dad from me.
Proud of you,
2023 Mikayla.
