A letter from Feb 02, 2023

Dear FutureMe, Lets start with a much needed life update- sure you lived through this but you probably don't remember. So let me take you back to February 2, 2023... This semester you have SK121, PS275, PS280, YC100 & YC200. It's only week four of second semester but having two psych courses feels really heavy. Both of them are online, which I thought would make it easier but I am overloaded with textbook readings. The first week of this semester I actually read EVERYTHING but I felt like I was stretched too thin. Because I want a psych minor by the end of year two I need these courses, but I'm hoping I can just be happy with a pass. I don't wanna slack off, but I also know my mental health will go downhill if I have no life outside of reading psych in a textbook. Ive been working 15 hours a week still at Golden Grounds. I don't think that ill work here next year as long as I can nail down a job through the school year. I handed out resumes to 7+ places this past Monday and Montana's emailed me back that night! I have an interview with them tomorrow- really hoping I can nail down that job for the summer! Did you end up officially getting the job after the interview? Did you continue to work at Montana's through the following school year(s) or just for the one summer? Aidan and I are doing good! Our two year anneversery is literally one month from today. I kinda wanna text him to say that haha. I made him a 'Year Of Dates' for his 19th birthday gift and at the end of last month we went to Dave & Busters. It was a ton of fun but god ****, the day cost me nearly $200! This next month we have a lowkey night in planned. How are you two doing? You guys would have been together for four years by the time you read this letter??? Im a bit worried about him living with his roomies. I really shouldn't be, but I'm not a fan that he will live with a random girl before his long-term girlfriend. I do understand it though and because of our situation we won't be able to live together until probably a year-ish after grad. You put in a ton of work over this past X-Mas break to nail down a house! The 6 of us will be: myself, Sam, Madi, Ashley, Alexis and Laiken! I have a really good feeling about how it'll be living with them all. I am financially REALLY broke though so I have a feeling I will be living on my mattress topper for the first month in the house & slowly chip away at getting a desk and decor for the year. Did Ashely end up warming up to us all any better? Ive been worried that she is not a fan of us (even though I talked with her about it). I'm really looking forward in getting to know Laiken and Alexis better too! Are you and Madi still smoking together at night? Right now you will smoke and watch tv (Vampire Diaries, Last Man on Earth, Living With Yourself, The Circle, Maid, etc) most nights of the week. Sam does not usually join us. I think she just needs more "alone time" than either Madi and I need. I'm really hoping that when you read this that you DO have a mattress. Right now im thinking that I want two white desks beside each other. One for makeup/getting ready & the other for school work. Did you end up doing that? Is it still set up that way? Did you guys put UV/blacklight posters in the basement? I might be brining Coda out with me too. This is a very new idea (w/i the past week) but it might be nice to have some extra company. There's a lot of logistics to figure out though if I do bring Coda out. I am worried that she might miss my family back home too much, even if she's with her "Mom" out here... I guess I'll be starting my SECOND practicum this year?! What in the world did you end up doing? Did you enjoy it? Right now I'm quite on the fence about the field of social work i'd like to go into. I honestly felt more prepared months ago! I feel like domestic violence work could be really cool but I still love the idea of medical social work or possibly continuing on to get my MSW and doing clinical work. I hope that my first placement was a great experience! I really have no idea right now what it will look like. I am really am proud of you though. As much as right now you are stressed, you have your **** together. Still printing off your weekly notes haha. I have a feeling you'll end up getting that YC minor too- you extra *****. Remember that whatever stresses you have right now, you have gone through way more uncertainty. Your life may seen confusing right now (what you'll exactly do after graduation) but don't stress about it. You are gonna end up at the perfect placement and find a great job after graduation. Remember "grace & grit" baby. Where is Rylan at with life? Did he end up going to U of C? He will be graduating pretty soon too! I just realized we are only two years apart in our post-secondary studies. I don't like that lol. Did Mom and Dale stay in the Pass or did they move to Hawaii or Okotokes? Logan is 15 now? Harmony is 13? Keegan is 10? Make sure you're connecting will with the littles Anika! Remind yourself that you wanna grow closer with them as you all age, not father apart. Please give Grandma & Grandpa a call and tell them that you miss them Go visit Hershy's grave. Be proud of yourself. You are most-literally building yourself a life.
