Dear FutureMe,
Hi! Here are some poems I wrote!
Where I’m from
By Caroline Crockett
I am from toothpaste,
from Colgate
and Sodium Fluoride.
I am from our game room.
(Colorful, cheerful,
bookshelves stuffed with books.)
I am from the apple tree
with blossoms in spring
and tart green apples in autumn.
I’m from chicken pot pie and hazel eyes,
from Mark and Mandy.
I’m from bookworms
and pet lovers, from our bearded dragon
and our adorable dog
I’m from heaven above
along with everyone else on the earth
and of the family of god.
I’m from Joseph and Sara,
ripe peaches and crunchy pecans.
From our trip to SeaWorld
where my sister lapped water from a puddle,
she doesn’t like being thirsty
In the cabinet
filing important achievements,
folders full of schoolwork
to reflect on treasured memories.
I am from fervent prayers
writing books about what we believe
that I read and believe in now.

Ode to Books
I am finally done with my homework
I’ve got nothing else to do
and so at last it will commence
I’ll do my reading for the day
A delightful time
when all my mind comes together
The time of day when I can escape
The stress that always is there
I might curl up on my bed
or cuddle with my dog
It doesn’t matter where I am
I just want to read
Millions of books to choose from
so many genres too
Magical fantasies, unbelievable non-fiction
heart-rending drama, suspenseful mysteries
Come sit with me
On a bright summer day
We can read the whole day
Then spend the night talking till morning
About the adventures that our books had brought
