A letter from a Ukrainian, Jan 2023

Time Travelled — almost 3 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, I'm Ukrainian and currently fleeing the war that started almost a year ago with Russia. I had to flee through mountains and forests for 9h straight, walking with heavy backpack - the only items i could bring with me - until I got to the Polish border, and then another stressful 5 days of planning and travel by train to get to Italy, to my girlfriend. Now I live here for 3 months, and I really wonder what will happen in the next year. Is Ukraine gonna win the war? (I believe so) Are we going to join EU and maybe even NATO? Where am I living? Still in Italy or back in Ukraine? What about my family back in Ukraine, are they all good? How is Russia doing? I'm going to try to predict that we actually managed to join EU but NATO is still in the process, Schengen area is still in the process also. I think my parents gonna be okay, hopefully.. And we are going to win the war, and even much earlier, maybe this year? I probably would still live in Italy but thinking about moving back to Ukraine. Let's see how it rolls!
