A letter from Jan 15, 2023

Dear FutureMe, Hey, I don't know if you still talk or you somehow ruined it or it somehow collapsed on its own. If you still talk, though, I hope you don't cling too much to the possibility of a reciprocated love. Even the friendship you have right now is beautiful and valuable. I hope you don't fill your head with assumptions, like a knife you keep pointing toward yourself. Did he just use you as a distraction? Is he actually serious? Does he secretly like you, too? How about you just live in the moment without fretting about future prospects? If it ends, I hope it ends beautifully --- bittersweet though it may be. There's barely a year left before you eventually part ways after graduation!! Hang in there and try not to ruin anything! If things have somehow already ended, though, I hope you're not harboring any resentment for the affection you haven't been compensated. It sounds weird to consider love as compensation. If things somehow already ended, I hope it wasn't because you did something thoughtlessly. But, oh well, if that's what happened... Don't beat yourself up for it. Que sera, sera. I'll hear from you, right? Take care of yourself. And yep, it's not really a big deal being in love with someone. It's not something you should run away from. Just enjoy the feeling lmao. That doesn't mean you gotta give in to every whim born out of love, though. Anyway, I trust you wouldn't do anything stupid. I trust you wouldn't be emotionally taken advantage of either. You're not as naive as you would like to think. As much as you fancy yourself a damsel in distress, you're really not hahaha. You're pretty smart, you know. Just. Relax. It's just love. *sips coffee* But yeah, if you're no longer in love with him by the time you receive this letter, then good for you. As for me, *takes another sip*, I'm happy to have fallen in love for the second time. And yep, I promise not to do something stupid so you can read this without a heavy heart. ^^ Love lots, Eli P.S.
