A letter from Jan 08, 2023

Time Travelled — almost 3 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, It’s 18 year old you. How has it been? Are you doing ok? Who knew 3 years later it would turn out this way? At this moment in time for me I just got a notification about the last letter I made on this day back in 2021. That’s crazy to think about. It’s 2023 right now. But for you, 2023 will probably feel as different as 2021 feels to me right now. Are you still writing? Currently, I haven’t really started any projects. But, I do write a lot of poetry and small things here and there. Have we done anything with writing? If not that’s ok. Sometimes trying to make something you love turn into a job isn’t for everyone. Did you finally go to school? Looking back you probably laugh at how much I’m stressing and how depressed I am right now. But hey, here’s to making it to another 3 years. Who knew. We’d be almost 21 right? How are your friends? Still hanging around the same people? Do we have any new friends that we didn’t have with me here back in 2023? If so, who are they? Are they cool? What is your favorite memory with them? Has anything significant changed? Are you working at a job? Or are you also still in school? So many questions, with no determined answer. It’s currently a Sunday. 😂 I’m actually writing this in bed while listening to piano music. Do we still collect mugs? If so, which is your favorite? And why? Reading any good books? I’m not really reading as much as I used to, but I hope we still get time to sit and read. Do we actually end up going to Georgia in the summer of 2023 to go see Bre? I hope we do. I’m so excited to go. Do we decide to become a teacher? If not, do we actually do something in history? I think that would be so cool. Remember that trip to the butterfly & dinosaur exhibit? How we looked in awe at the big bones of the dinosaurs? Absolutely hanging onto the lady’s words as she explained each exhibit and the names of the fossils. I know we don’t always remember, but that was the first time we started to have a love for animals and history. When it comes to deciding I know we will do what is right. You may think differently. But to me, you have always tried your best in a life that never prepared you for what is to come. “They made you into the antihero of their story, turning you into someone you never were. Asking you to find peace, but no matter who the story keeper is, you will only ever be the lying villain in a story only ever told by the heroins in your life.” - LA ( you ) I hope this letter found you well. ❤️ For you get to travel the fast lane while I get a back seat ticket. Walking to a destination nowhere fast. Maybe by then, we’ll meet each other there? If you by then know where “there” is. I think taking the long way is better. How much have we grown? ( not by height tho. I think we both know we aren’t getting taller anytime fast. ) But, growth in ourselves. I’m proud of what you have achieved. Even now, when getting out of bed is an achievement. You have done amazingly. I know no one ever tells you this. But. Good job. ❤️ Congratulations. Way to go. You did it. Till we meet again. See you soon. 18 year old you. L.A. P.S. please tell me we get a cat. We’ve always wanted a cat since Lucky. ❤️ Always strive to be the best friend to people. Everyone deserves a friend that takes initiative upon themselves to show they care. Continue to inspire and be inspired.
