Dear FutureMe,
How are you? You’re feeling okay today?
You think I must have a thousand questions want to ask you. But I am not. The first thing I want to check is your physical and mental health. It’s good if everything is okay.
I’m writing to you in a very small room – only 10m2 and our cat – Mr. Avocado is sleeping peacefully while listening to some music I’m playing right now. I hope at that time you already move to a bigger place, it might have a balcony with all the small plants and every morning the sunshine will fill the room with its color like we always picture in our head. And where is that place? Saigon or Hanoi? I believe you have the answer by now.
As we speak, I just come down opening the door for my boyfriend. He likes showing up here randomly at night. Sometimes we just ride the motorbikes all around, with no specific destination, or go out to have some Saigon cheap-junky food. And most of the time he and I just talk about many kinds of stuff, cook a meal, play with my cat and watch Netflix. Of course, you know all of this, you’re me. But I guess I just want to describe a little bit more detail about our life before since you will see if there will be a lot of differences compared to your life now.
Enough about our past life, tell me more about our present.
What I am curious about the most is your career. Are you still working in the Marketing field or you decide to change it? Since you always want to do a lot of things I bet your current profession can surprise me. Still, is this too much if I hope that writing is one of your main things now? Though you never admit it you know you have a talent for it deep down inside. Whatever you choose is fine as long as you won’t regret it.
Do you have your own bakery now? The small one with many pretty colored cakes and pies, where the smell is so good even from afar. Don’t worry if our bakery is not a bakery but a small restaurant or coffee shop. You come up with new ideas almost every day ^^ But I know you dream about it for a long time and at the age of 30, you make that dream come true.
And finally, the most important question: “Are you happy right now?”
It’s the only thing that matter the most to me, to be honest. It might sound cliche to some people but from the bottom of my heart, I truly hope you will. Everything you achieve or aspire to in life is nothing if you’re not feeling good enough to enjoy every bit of it.
Remember I will always be proud of you no matter what.
Love,
27-year-old me.
