Dear FutureMe,
The Beginning
The people in this photograph are a young boy, named Kolbie, and his mother. This boy, at the time about a year old wearing his favorite navy blue coat, the coat about the size of him himself if not bigger, and tenie tiny little shoes, was experiencing his first snowy snow angel, but unfortunately, this little boy didn't know, it was his and last snow angel for a long, long time. The mother, about age 17, possibly still in high school, was holding the little boy to the snow, and assisted the boy in making the angel. At the time, she was wearing a long, warm, navy blue jacket, with her curly, blonde hair. This took place long, long ago, back in near the end of 2010, in Indiana, Indianapolis. This boy only lived in cold Indiana for the first 2 years of his baby life, before going down to his new home to warm Mississippi.
East Railroad
I live in southern Mississippi, and I’ve been since June 26, 2011. How I know the exact date because, on the day of my second birthday, I moved to southern Mississippi to celebrate. For the past 11 years, I've been living east of the Railroad. When I was still a little baby, I didn’t really care about the loud noises. As I turned 5-9 though, I got scared, and ran everywhere every time I heard it while outside. Now, though, I once again do not care about the 130-150 decibel train. I live in a big red house on 6, wooden beams, with a swingy seat outside, good for swinging on and watching the dogs go outside so they don’t get hurt. It could also be good for just swinging on and playing Plants VS Zombies on my phone. I, myself personally, am very, very happy with my house.
Coal Town
My name. My name makes me feel unique, not uncomfortable. I feel special, not stuck. I feel understood and not underestimated. It feels different in a good way, and I'm happy about it! My name, Kolbie, stands for “Coal Town” and is for some reason a girl's name. I'm not bothered by that, if anything I find it hilarious! So why is my name, well, my name? My name was given to me by my mom, and it was inspired by singer Colbie Caillat because my mom liked her music. As I said earlier, my name makes me feel unique, special and understood, and your name might make you have some other feeling, whether it be good or bad, it makes you unique and yourself. Even if you think you're bad, hurting others, or just a bad person in general, take a minute to think. Think that you are a unique person. A 99% perfect person. Only because nobody is perfect, doesn't mean you're not close to it. Your name makes you, you.
My Expectations
My personal expectations are to pass and excel and to make others happy. But that’s what I think of myself. What might others think of me? Some people may think I try to make people laugh, and they might think I do it poorly. I do sometimes but I don’t actively try to make people laugh, instead, I try to make everyone happy with themselves and others. I try to comfort my close friends if they feel down. I’m a helper, not a hurter. What my parents think of me; they think, and know, I will excel, be higher than average, and achieve all A’s and maybe B’s like I used to in elementary school. Back in my years before 5th grade, I always got A's and rarely B’s, never under. Once I reached 5th grade, I started slowly falling into more B’s, then eventually C’s. Just last year, I got my first D in ELA. I am now trying harder to not fall into the low C’s, and my lowest grade is a 76, and I'm trying to bring it up.
Red Rings of *****
When I was younger, around the ages of 6 to 8, I had an old XBOX 360 on which I used to play every day I could. Let me tell you, I had a blast. I played two games and 2 games only, Minecraft and Roblox. Minecraft was very new, actually about as old as me! I was born on June 26th, 2009, and Minecraft was released to the public on May 17th, 2009. That's only 40 days apart, Minecraft being the older sibling. Back to my old XBOX, when I was 8, soon to be 9, my XBOX experienced the red rings of *****. That happened when connectors inside the components of the console broke. When it got the red rings of *****, I sadly had to throw it out, and never did I see it again. Luckily for me, in 2019, when I was 10, near 11, I got a new XBOX 1, which I still have to this day. My XBOX means a lot to me, it means connection to the outside world, endless possibilities, endless fun, and most importantly, Roblox and Minecraft once again.
Last Friday
Friday, September 2nd, 2022. This was the day all the kids who scored advanced on the previous year’s diagnostic went on a field trip to the nearby park. I was so excited! I was saying stuff like “I can’t wait for this field trip” and “If I had to, I could walk to my house in 10 minutes from the park”, which I could. You see, I don't live all too far from my school, and the school isn’t all too far from the park, which isn’t too far from my house. Do you see where I'm going? When I got onto the big yellow school bus and went to the park, everyone was crammed, 3 to a seat. Those seats are meant for two not three TWO. Anyway, when I reached the park, ate my Papa John’s pizza, drank my slightly below-average sized juice box, and went to the park part of the field trip, I only just remembered how small and limited the park was. The park had 8, damaged swings, 3 run-down slides, and a fun spinny wheel that was connected to a painting of a car. I loved the spinny wheel that was connected to a painting of a car. We were there for an hour, a long, spinny wheel that was connected to a painting of a car. After that, we went back to the school, and as I entered my class, in which I had 3 minutes left, my friend ran up to me and gave me a “welcome back!” hug.
School, College, Future!
At the moment, I am 13 years old, but what do I think I'll look like and act like in a few years? In 2023, I will graduate middle school, and go to the 9th grade. In 2019, 3 years ago, I graduated from elementary school, and I was miserable. I loved elementary school, especially 5th grade because I felt like the “top dog”. Now I realize that just because I'm at the top grade level in the school, doesn’t mean I'm the top dog. I guess it was just a feeling I got after 1 person said “since you're in the 5th grade you're the top dog of the school now”. Back to the future, in 2027 I will graduate, and I do plan to go to college. Once I finally get a good, well-paying job then I will try to save up for an average house. I won’t need to buy a new car, as my family already has an old, perfectly working, green, truck. To achieve this, though, I will need to do as well as possible at school, at home, and eventually at my job.
Bronchitis
Last school year, I was in the 7th grade and I couldn’t breathe all too well and my chest hurt really, really bad. Eventually, I decided “this hurts too much, I should probably tell the teacher and ask to go to the nurse.”, so I did. Once I did, I told the nurse everything, from having slightly off balance due to my ear fluids to the hurt chest. After I told her, she said that I might have bronchitis. You see, bronchitis (braang·kai·tuhs) is the inflammation of the lining of bronchial tubes, which carry air to and from the lungs. Apparently, Bronchitis is very common in the US, infecting about 3 million people a year, and ******* just 200,000 people a year. Bronchitis is also known as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). COPD is highly deadly for seniors or people above 65, unfortunately ******* around 86% of the elderly who get the disease. Just to make it worse, it's incurable.
One Leg, Two Crutches
I am a loyal Pass Christian Pirate and I have been since my first day of kindergarten. Over these past 9 school years, I've had many good, memorable moments. I’ve also had some bad experiences, also just as memorable. I’ve had at least one of each from each grade level, some are slowly starting to fade, but some stayed. For example, only 2 years back. 6th grade, on the last day before the true last day of the school year. Now I have a question, have you, the reader, or listener, have you ever broken, dislocated, sprained, or severely damaged a bone in your body? If yes, you might understand what I’m about to tell you. On that day, it was my time in gym class and we were just getting up to go get lunch. Step by step, down the bleachers I went. Thud. Thud. Thud. The next thing I felt, was possibly the worst pain of my life at the time. My whole body moved towards the door, but my knee stayed where it was before! Before I knew what happened, I collapsed and felt a stinging pain in my leg. I had dislocated my left knee. The pain felt like a thick, rusty needle going in and out of my knee, and through my whole leg. All the teachers in the gym and counselors came to help, and someone called the ER, and they came as fast as they could. Once I reached the ER room, my knee popped back into place and most of the pain was gone with it. I had to walk on one leg, and two crutches for the whole two-month-long summer. A good thing that happened in the middle school years, though, is that I've met dozens of new, wonderful faces! I am very happy with all the new friends, teachers, and counselors I've met in these past 3 years. Go, Pirates!
The End
I was at the time about a year old wearing my favorite navy blue coat. The coat was about the size of my own baby body, if not bigger. I was also wearing my favorite, tenie tiny little shoes. I was experiencing my first snow angel, but unfortunately, little me didn't know, it was my first and last snow angel for a long, long time. My mom, about age 17, possibly still in high school, was holding me to the snow, and assisted me in making the angel. At the time, she was wearing a long, warm, navy blue jacket, with her curly, blonde hair. This took place long, long ago, back in near the end of 2010, in Indiana, Indianapolis. I only lived in cold Indiana for the first 2 years of my baby life, before going down to my favorite new home to warm Mississippi.
