Dear FutureMe,
I am Mariela Quintana Estrella and I am 27 years old, I am Mexican so my mother tongue is Spanish, besides speaking Spanish, I speak English and a little French.
My first word was "agua" (water) when I was one year old, I think it is a very common word that babies learn, then I started to babble songs, since I was very little I had a great interest in music and especially singing.
I started learning English when I was 4 years old when my family and I moved to the United States and went to kindergarten, I learned the language very quickly, I was even diagnosed with Asperger's and hyperlexia, which fostered my habit and obsession for reading from a very early age.
My strategies to learn French are watching movies and listening to songs, regarding movies I usually watch the ones I already know by memory in Spanish, and I play them in French, as I already know the expressions of the actors it is easy for me to memorize them in another language and then put them into practice, I think it is the same strategy I used with English unconsciously when I was little, but it worked very well for me.
In the future I would like to reach C1 in French and teach French.
