Dear Me,
What’s up, Me?
Also, what’s up, Mrs. Foye since I know you are going to be reading this.
As of the time I started this letter, it’s Aug 18, 2022, the third day of high school for me.
I guess now I’m supposed to describe myself, but I don’t think I need to explain myself to you, Me. You know who I am. I’m Jacob Wilks. I sent you this letter at the beginning of the year as an assignment for ELA. I also put this on a website that would send it to you when the time is right. That time is probably May 15, 2026, if I sent it to the right date. As of now, I’m pretty quiet. I don’t know if you remember, but life isn’t being kind to our 8th-grade self (either that or he’s just really self-conscious, I have no idea). I’m starting to recover from that. I’ve been becoming less reserved. Also, according to the MAPS personality test, I’m “logical”, “visionary”, and a “status quo breaker”. Yeah, it’s making it sound like I’m gonna be the new Elon Musk or something. But who knows? Maybe you’re currently inventing some new thing that’ll hopefully change the world.
Next thing on my to-do list: what's important to me! It’s important to me that I finish all my work in school so that I don’t have to do any of it at home. So far, I’ve failed. I am currently typing this sentence while I’m at home, forgetting about this assignment. It doesn’t help that I don’t know how to type. But anyway, let’s stop talking about my problems!
Next up: what I like to do! I like to play Minecraft, you might have expected that one (Technoblade Never Dies!). I also like watching YouTube on my phone. (Yes, Mrs. Foye. I’m one of those kids.) I am also currently interested in Marvel’s Avengers on the PS5. If you reply to this, can you tell me what new stuff has been added to it (and Minecraft as well), even though I know I won’t see it until 4 years from now? Also, are you interested in any new games? Did Minecraft get old?
Next up: what I don’t like! Honestly, I’m not a fan of Geometry class. It’s pretty hard. I mean, I’m not saying it's a bad class, but it’s hard to keep up with, since it’s the one with all that homework. Hopefully you’ve been having a better time in your math class than I’ve been? Is Calculus hard? Are you even learning it yet?
School itself is fine though. I’ve done a lot of stuff, like starting an email that when finished, would be sent to every “Jack” or “Jackson” in the school district. I missed the bus on the first day of school (bruh), and I have Harry Styles stuck in my head. Also, I still can’t unhear “pio pio” (not sure if you remember that). PE doesn’t really have anything going on; we kind of just hang out there. There’s less stress in terms of homework, at least compared to the 6 hours of homework our 8th grade counterpart is having a pain going through. (I feel like his mom is the real victim of all that, though.)
I’m hoping to at least survive High School, and not end up being a dropout living under a bridge, but is everything going okay? Did you drop out? Hopefully not.
Anyway, have a great life, Me!
Signed,
Jacob Wilks of August 2022.
