A letter from Aug 23, 2022

Time Travelled — almost 4 years

Peaceful right?

Dear Future Me, I hope you've been well these past 4 years. I'm 21 right now, and life is pretty great, Alhamdulillah. I'm going into semester 7, last year of preclinical med school. I'm writing my minor thesis to hopefully graduate on time. By the time you receive this letter, you'll probably be in internship? I'm not sure. Lately I've been seeing discouraging things about the dirty and hard reality of working in medicine & healthcare. I try not to think that I made the wrong decision though. Besides, you don't know where else you would be other than here, do you? As rough as it's looking right now, you still love doing what you're doing and studying. I don't know if this uneasiness gets better or worse with time, you know better, doc. I hope today, at 25, you don't have too many regrets about what you should've or shouldn't have done when you were 21. I'm trying too, you know? Anyway, how is life? Are you married or planning to? Have you found your person? I hope he's nice. If you haven't, no pressure. Is it still as obscure as it is for me today? Honestly, right now I I don't see anyone to be right for me and I don't know if it gets harder or easier. But keep praying and improving yourself. Our endeavor to be the best version of ourself is a lifelong work. I know life is really busy right now, but you better not be missing your prayers and fasts. Also I hope that life hasn't made you stop drawing and painting. If you did, this is your sign to pick up a pen and a brush. I wonder if you're planning to stay in this beautiful bustling city of B, or if you're going back home to that small coastal town where we were born and raised for 18 years. But maybe you've made a home out of your new place? Wherever you are, keep moving forward. Life is as good as how grateful you are for it. Much love, A. (Btw, are you still friends with S, F, N, J, and D? I hope you are. They're nice girls. I hope you've made more friends for life.)
