A letter from Aug 10, 2022

Dear FutureMe, today was the second day of freshman year. super stressful but i hope it gets better, i know it will. unless something changes. like an unfortunate phone call or an unexpected announcement made over the intercom at school. which is what happened today. my first thought was "oh crap school shooting. its only my second day!..." but the principal said to drop everything and pay attention. it turned out that the secretary who does the attendance and checks kids in and out, had died in a car accident driving to the school. (it was 4th hour btw) it blows my mind just how fast someones life can change in an instant, how someone can be there talking with you and laughing and then be dead the next. im praying that none of my friends died from now to whatever time it is in the future. i hope we have a college to go to and i hope you found a career path. rn i wish to preform or do music ministry. but mom wants me to be a doctor. i hope we have a bf. Do we? i hope hes catholic or at least christian. he sings or plays an instrument and is athletic with brown fluffy hair. i hope the world isnt in chaos or mass destruction. did you know i started my period the today...of all days seriously? i just hope were safe and on the path we need to be. sincerely, 14 year old, me, EMT.
