Dear Future Michael,
Happy 22nd birthday! I am writing this email on the precipice of graduating high-school and on the old Samsung S10E. There's a reason why I set this to be sent on our birthday; I'm happy we're alive. I'm glad we were born!
So, how's life? You can't respond, so just take a moment to self-reflect. We survived high-school. You know, every one says high-school is aweful; and they're right. But was my poopy high-school experience just a typical result of *******, or was it something more? Well, it doesn't matter. What I've learned is that anyone can feel things, regardless of exterior affects and notions.
High-school was certainly one of the experiences of all time, and it certainly took a toll on my character. But did I change? Future Me, was I able to evolve from that shy, worthless, overly self-conscious wimp? I hope I was; in fact, since I wrote this, I will have to have changed or you'll be really embarrassed and ashamed.
But if you didn't change, then oh well. CHANGE! I still want that change, so here are some high-school me ideas.
One, not a lot of people care about you; it may sound harsh, but hear me out. By adopting this mindset, you learn to not care so much about the opinions of others, making you not needing the need to overthink. I think this idea mainly restricted you from doing things in social or personal situations; one example is wondering whether doing something is awkward.
Two, love yourself. As Mrs. Desousa-Swan says, you cannot accept love unless you find a reason to accept that love. And thinking that way can forge great relationships.
I timed this email to be sent around your final year of post-secondary. I don't know whether you stay in Btech or go somewhere else, but if it makes us happy, than... thank you. And you know, you are never too old to act young and discover yourself.
By the way, if you're not, just know high-school you was a huge otaku, hence why this letter sounds like this. I'm nervous but I'm also excited and hopeful for the future. I only realized now, but I REALLY want to change; and this letter is proof of that.
With love, 18-year-old Michael.
PS, did a new season of No Game No Life come out. I'm not a mega fan, but it's one of those series that have a season 2 that fans intensely yearn for.
