Mother's appetite is poor and she has a musky odor that just won't go away. Why would this be the case when her dialysis efficiency is so much better? In response to our discussion that she must be very cautious due to potassium of 4.0, she walked out on the concrete driveway to pick up the paper this AM. She is experiencing profound short term memory deficiency. She either doesn't hear well enough to allow information to register in her brain or she forgets what she hears. She says she won't be renewing her subscriptions to magazines. She says she begins to read and the column narrows to the point that she can't read. I'm going to make an effort to fix more snacks for her -- she is more and more resistent to eating in the late afternoon. Hope to create other adjustments to make her more comfortable. Will read this in a month to see if 1) she is experiencing a higher quality of life in any way, and more important, 2) have I made some helpful adjustments to our routine? It is all up to me. This is a journey I have chosen. If I can make things better, I am the chief beneficiary. Thought for today:
There is little difference in people, but that little difference
makes a big difference. That little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.
I must retain a positive attitude in the face of any situation and I will do it!
