Dear FutureMe,
Hello, Aley Matthew Boisek Perez of 2026! At the time I am writing this, (or in this case, you?) you are not wearing uniform on a Monday. You are fully dripped out with a Fashion Nova 'Dangerous Emotions' tee, black slacks, a 'Kreem X Butter' jersey, and the iconic red Converses. Your nails are also painted red! But only your thumbs, pointer fingers, and pinkies. It was done this way because of the rock 'n' roll salute and everyone at the house was doing it. Lastly, when you started this assignment, your Spotify playlist started with "I Love You So", so I think you can guess what's going on with that point in your life. At the table you sit at, there's Asia, Lei-Lua, Diane, and Kelsey (not physically but in spirit, because she was absent that day). I believe that's it to recap my day as of right now, so I should probably start answering the prompts. Have fun, enjoy, and see you later!
Anyway, I hope that, where ever you currently are in the world, you are happy not only with what you have, but also yourself. I pray that the mainland did you well and you were able to become your best self out there (even though you already were at the time of this message). As of right now, and I feel as though it will continue to be, my favorite song is "Save Your Tears" by The Weeknd. Especially, the "Save Your Tears" Remix featuring Ariana Grande š©š©š©. There are absolutely no words to express how I feel about this song. My favorite thing to do in my free time is sleep, read, clean, listen to music, and play video games. Hold up, Asia just said something really deep and it kinda hit hard. She was prophesizing how her letter is quite lengthy and that she is going into great detail, so she doesn't forget about the past. Back to the questions, the best social media right now is Twitter, Instagram, and Tik Tok.
My best friends are, and again, I PRAY that they continue to be, Grace Anne, Merry Ann, Micaela, Florencio, Natalie, Rochelle, Samantha, Asia, and Kelsey. Everyone I just listed is honestly the best people ever and I am so glad that they are in my life. I pray to those above that I am still in contact in them, as I would be pretty sad if I'm not. You always used to ride with Rochelle and Sam,
they would drop you home, and you guys just chilled and sometimes ate. Those were definitely one of the highlights of your senior year.
After school, I usually go home and either play video games, do my assignments, read, or watch T.V. I play with my Familia (you know who) and we have such a great time and sometimes, they cause me anxiety. Also, I really try not to, but I just end up falling asleep. Hey, it's not my fault that the couch is quite comfortable, especially my special spot in the lazy boy. š“
As of right now, I stress about college and major, funding, my Social Security and me being literally DECEASED, and my new life in the mainland. I feel as though everything is happening so fast and that's why I hope where ever you are in life, you are chilling and at peace. I like to think that the situation I am in right now is the storm before the rainbow. I'm just figuring a lot of things out at the moment and it will all pay off in the end.
My favorite subject is Math. I'm taking Applied Mathematics and I find it to be quite easy. It relates to real-life scenarios, such as banking, taxes, and credit. It's pretty useful, especially as a senior about to venture into the world. I also plan on majoring in Accounting for college, so it coincides well with my potential path.
I was in a relationship with no one. š Wow, that was pretty depressing. It's okay, however, I don't need to be in a relationship to be content. But... it would've been nice to be in one just for the fun of it and to experience before I leave. Moving on to intangible aspects and ideologies, I was in a relationship with "Scream", "Star Wars", my PlayStation 4 and slashers, in general. I obsess over these things almost everyday and I love them with all my life. Looking at this list now, though, shows that I love things associated with the letter "S" like Star, Scream, pS4, and Slashers... Perhaps it's a sign. Yeah.. let's not get into that again, save it for another time, Aley.
What I'm most looking forward to is moving to the mainland and experiencing all the things I never got to on the island. There's so much I would like to do out there like speed down a long highway, eat the vast network of fast food we don't have on Guam, obtain a job (the dream is to be barista at Starbucks, server/host at a restaurant, or hotel), and attend a festival/concert of some sort. ALSO, my lifelong dream of when going to the states is to visit Walmart and Target. I always get so jealous when I watch YouTubers and they're filming at these large establishments.
If I could change one thing about my senior year, it would be not changing my schedule at the beginning of the school year. I was put into AP American Government for 3rd period and after one College Board assignment, I just couldnāt go through with that anymore. So, I changed that class to Psychology, but then he ended up leaving for the second semester. Then, I transferred from THAT class to literary films. Therefore, I kind of regret leaving that class because most of my friends were in that class and I rarely see them around school too.
My most memorable moment of senior year was dressing up as Santa Claus for the Feliz Navidad donation drive. Everyone wanted to take pictures with me and so many people wanted to donate. Everywhere I walked, whether it was in the hallways or outside, people would exclaim that Santa Claus is here. This was a memorable experience because Iāll never forget how sweaty the suit made me. My uniform was absolutely drenched.
The thing I want to forget about high school is junior year. Junior year was the year COVID hit really hard and schools had to resort to online learning. It was the absolute worst, as I hated waking up at 7:15 just to sit in front of a screen. I hated attending classes and having to sit in silence. I also despised sitting in front of my laptop hours upon hours doing my work.
One teacher/person/mentor who has made an impact on me was my LMP teacher, Mr. Eric Chong. He inspired me in many ways and made me into the best version of myself today. He advised me to join a mentorship program with Dr. Samuel Betances himself and I could not be more grateful for the wonderful experience. I hope to continue communicating with him after high school and well into my adult life. Also, after being in his class for almost three years, Iād like to keep that relationship going. We even painted his classroom for goodness sake.
Simon Sanchez High School is alright. Although it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing looking place, it certainly holds tons of great memories. From me being late on the very first day of school to producing a movie for a class in our own hallways and classrooms. I know, the amount of times I said āUgh, I hate this place and I canāt wait to leave,ā are just exaggerations and the moments I leave, Iām going to really miss it. Iām going to miss all my teachers, the classrooms, and the broken bathrooms.
HERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT I AM PREDICTING WILL HAPPEN TO ME IN THE FUTURE:
I donāt want to go into detail because the future is unpredictable and Iāll never truly know where I end up. I will be working as either a Starbucks barista, restaurant waitstaff/host, or any position in a hotel. I will travel to other states for sightseeing and hopefully internationally, one day. I would like to go to Japan, Greece, New Zealand, and Finland. I will be living in a studio apartment. My closest friends will be my cousins. The best part about being out of high school is not having to wake up super early and dealing with immature people. My first car will be a RED TRUCK. The best social media in 2026 will be Twitter, because of all the havoc it causes in todayās world and I bet Elon Musk would have done cool stuff with it. My favorite hobbies will be reading, working out, playing video games, and hanging out with friends/family. I will be in love with⦠myself. Enough self-doubting myself because my adult life will be all about self-love. I will have stopped sleeping in and taking unnecessary naps. I want to be proactive and productive with my time. I will be missing all my friends on Guam, or wherever life takes them. I will also miss my cat, Momo, and my baby dog, Looney. ALSO, I will miss my brother and sister. The world will be what it always has been, crazy.
I hope you had fun reading this Aley of 2026 and maybe your eyes will be very watery by the time you're down here. There's nothing more for me to say so I hope you have a great rest of your day, night, year, and life. See ya!
With the bestest regards,
Aley Perez 2022
