Time Travelled — over 3 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, So, I have planned this letter for you to receive on your 287th birthday, which means 3 and a half years from now. Right now, you are looking for your first real job as a legal counsel after 5 years of university and one and a half year of different internships. I’m so excited for you to finally get a big girl job, with big girl money! These last 6 years haven’t been easy, and looking back at the start of them, you would have never imagined being where you are right now. I hope when you are reading this you will think exactly the same about the last 3 years. So, you’re 28 now. Time flies? Nearly 30 years old. Life is so precious and I’m happy we’re still here to soak it all in. Right now, I imagine you having a good job, paid quit well (maybe 3000euros net/month?), living in a cute flat in Paris. You still enjoy yoga, going out with friends, going on long walks, cooking, etc. Maybe you’re living with a boyfriend? I hope he’s all you would’ve wished for at 24 years old. I hope he takes you out to dinner, plans nice weekend trips away, buys you gifts for your birthday and valentine’s day, and takes you out to brunch on Sunday morning. And if he doesn’t, please leave him because you deserve the world. Right now, you wish you could go on an adventure, maybe hiking, climbing a mountain, going on a yoga trip, going to Iceland to see the northern lights. I hope you had the guts to go alone, or if not, you found a friend to tag along with you. I hope you can look back on these 3 years and say you didn’t just concentrate on work but also did loads of fun stuff. I hope you finally quit smoking, for reference, you quit at 24 but you know how it goes, you might pick that habit up again. I hope you still eat healthy and still cook, however I also hope you often eat out and discover new cuisines and new restaurants. I just hope life is good and you’re happy even on days the sun is not shining.
