Dear FutureMe,
Today is your 38th birthday. (Lord willing and the creek didn't rise). And I hope I'm not reading this email in a van down by the river.
When I wrote this I was less than a month away from my 35th birthday and really stressing about how in the world I was going to pay my rent and what was my midterm entree going to be for Advanced Food Prep?
Here are some questions dear future self , I hope you can answer "yes" to; Has your hair stopped falling out? And if it hasn't please remember it could be worse. At least the cortisone injections work.
Are you married? Do you have children? Did you stop cutting yourself off from people? Because if you didn't, that's probably why you answered "no" to the those two questions. Or not. It could be something completely different. It's always complicated with you.
Have you been to Europe? Do you have a good job doing something you love? Or even something you kinda sorta like?
Are your parents still alive? If they are, you should call them and say "Hi".
Please tell me you're somewhat out of debt!
And finally, I hope you're still in the church. You know if you don't have salvation, you don't have anything. I hope you're a better Christian than you were when you wrote this.
Okay, maybe this is the "finally part" If some of the answers to these questions are "no". Fix it!
Invest more money, be more open with people, visit Europe, maybe adopt? Don't live in fear. Don't become Dad 2.0. You're better than that. Don't let fear make you bitter because you were afraid of everthing and never wanted to take a chance!!! I think you'll be much happier if you lead a fuller life.
And I hope you've given something back so that other's don't have to live in a van down by the river.
Ah remember, life is good and you're blessed to live in a time and in a place where women have opportunities. It could be so much worse.........
