A letter from Jan 11th, 2022

Dear FutureMe, Well ****, here we are, writing future letters instead of doing your biology notes. You really are the procrastinator around here. Currently, you are a freshman at UCSD, studying microbiology. And woah, last quarter was simply amazing!! I made friends with all my suitemates, and dorm life is THE LIFE!!! I mean, going out every weekend and hanging out with friends 24/7?? HELL YEAH!!! Yet despite this nice new environment, I feel like something is missing. I haven't exactly figured out what that is. Maybe it's because my college friends aren't quite like my high school friends. Except maybe Valeria. She's the one true friend I've made so far, she's truly amazing. We plan to get our own apartment by our third year of school, somewhere not so far from campus. Did we make it together? I think we did, since we get along so well. I hope you've made other friends too. I don't have much right now, besides my suitemates. It does get pretty lonely sometimes, ngl. I hope by the time you read this, I'll have a handful of good friends. I really want to work in a lab at least once in my time at UCSD. Did we make it? I'm so afraid to talk to professors, I don't know how to reach out or ask them if they'll take me in their research. Hopefully someone has taken me in. Also, am I still pursuing a PhD? I really want one in microbiology, immunology, and virology. With the whole pandemic going on and everything, I hope to one day be working for the CDC. It's my dream so far. I hope I was able to pass chemistry. I failed my first ever chemistry class and I've been feeling really bad about it but I know I'll be better for the next time. We were better right? Please tell me things did get better. As of now, Omicron covid cases are just going up and up. School is online until the 31st sadly. Things feel like how there were in March 2020. How is the covid situation right now? Is it still around? Was there some sort of crazy cure discovered that wiped it out (as of right now, that seems absurd lmfao) Are we still all wearing masks? I'd like to believe that things will get better for the world, and that Covid will one day be gone. Hopefully by the time you read this, covid will be something of the past. How are you, really? Have you found true peace within yourself yet? Have you achieved full level happiness? As of now, you are happy. Things have been so great to us, and it feels like my life is finally at the good part. But there's just so much things about our past that hasn't been resolved. Have you finally let go of sophomore year? Have you finally spoken to someone about what really happened between you and Fernando? Have you forgiven those who hurt us? I know that idea sounds extremely unlikely. But I do hope you're better. I hope life has continued to do you good. I hope you're 100% happy and that you feel like you belong in the world, because you do. You are so worthy of receiving only the best from life. We have been through so much pain, and we deserve this happiness that we are feeling and I hope by the time you get this, you'll still hold that happiness that we are feeling right now. I hope that you are successful, and that your financially well. I hope that by the time you read this, you have an idea of what job you'll get, or what your path is. I want to talk about Philip now. Philip White, the love of your life. As of now, things have been so beautiful between us. It's been more than a year, and I think he's the one. He is in boot camp right now, I see him in 30 days and I'm just so excited and happy that he has succeeded in securing a career for himself. He loves you, as you love him. Tell me, are you guys still together? Are you guys engaged ?? We want to marry, and I hope to be able to marry him once I graduate. How did mom and dad react? Have you met his family yet? God, I really do hope he's the one for us. Please please please let him be the one. I love him so much, and I truly believe we will make it. Distance is hard, mew. It's so hard. I hope that everything goes well between us and that by the time you read this letter, you'll still have him by your side. How's Nando doing? Have you guys met yet? And is he still with Asia? I hope he is, he deserves all the happiness in the world. He is my best friend. I hope you've had the chance to see both him and Phil at the same time. Have you been to Indiana yet? Imagine how cool that'd be? A spontaneous trip halfway across the country without mom or dad knowing. Sounds like a plan to me! As of now, I am 18 years old, and happy. I'm happy. I hope you're happy. I hope you're okay. I love you. I love you so much and I hope that you love you too. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us!! I'm so excited to explore San Diego and truly find peace within the next three years. Dear future me, how are you? And so we go, Mew xx
