Dear future me,
It’s your 8th grade self, 4 years ago. I hope you’re well, I hope that you didn’t change for the worst but for the better. I’m emailing you before graduation to tell you congrats for whatever you accomplished in the future and what you will continue to accomplish. Now some questions and goals. Did you apply to Columbia or NYU or Yale? If you did then I’m super proud of you but if you didn’t then that’s fine. Did you get into any? Did you get into an Ivy League, in general? Do you still wanna be a lawyer? Do you still want to get married and have kids? Or do you want to be the rich Aunt? Did you ever end up moving to Florida? Did you get closer to our brother aka Ricky? Were you in AP classes, like we wanted? Are you still friends with the twins aka Lily and Leila Ros Morales? Are you still friends with Isa Bicalho? You’re probably still having an on and off again friendship with Leo, most likely. Are you still obsessed with Harry Styles or Zayn or Taylor Swift or The Weeknd? Did you go to one of their concerts? Did you do any sports in high school? You better have done volleyball and cheerleading. Please, don’t tell me that you didn’t live your high school years to the fullest. Did you end up dating anyone? I hope that they’re like a foot taller than you though. If you didn’t date anyone or if you’re not currently dating anyone, then it’s fine. We don’t need a man anyways. Did you get that heartbreak that you wanted to experience? How was prom? I know for a fact that you went because now we’ve already started to look for dresses. Did you get the piercings you wanted behind dad’s back? If you did then you definitely got brave. How are our great cousins doing (Val, Gy, Laeticia, Leila, Jacob, Noah)? Speaking of Jacob, how’s our baby doing? When you graduate, he's probably going to be 7 or 8. How’s mom and dad? I hope they’re okay. Especially dad, 2021 wasn’t his year or the family's’ to be honest. Was high school how we thought it was going to be? Did you go to any parties??? Was it as memorable as you wanted it to be? If it wasn’t then we always have college to live it up some more. I really really hope that you became valedictorian of your class. Make sure in your speech, you talk about your parents. Promise me that you’ll follow through with your dreams even if life sucks and doesn’t turn out how you wanted? Don’t forget about your middle school years and friends, they shaped you into the person you are.
Love,
Your eighth grade self <3
