Sehr Geehrte mich,
I don't exactly know what has inspired me to write this message. Perhaps it's a mix between the annoyance upon never receiving my letter from middle school by now and generally just not having a good time. I've also heard the journaling or writing to yourself can help give someone a better mindset or whatever **** their saying these days. But regardless, I thought I'd give it a go.
I suppose a good place to start is where I'm at now. Now, I toe some lines (I hope you haven't forgotten how dramatic we are). I still don't know whether I'm okay with being sociable or not. I made some new friends (Laci and Jacob), but I don't really feel all that comfortable around the latter and I feel as though I annoy the former. Miss Reagan is still great to me in my Mythology class (which is one of the only classes I've ever loved--and I mean /loved/), but I feel like I annoy her, too. She knows so many people and speaks to everyone (even in our shared class) and I don't know when I'm intruding.
Richard and I... well I don't know where we stand. One day, we're texting and flirting non-stop. Another we haven't talked all day. Another, it sounds like she's mad at me and I don't know what to do. At the moment, we're on an up. However, Halloween is a few days away (we'll be Jedidiah and Octavius from Night at the Museum) and every time I've texted her about it, I get no reply. I've texted thrice and I don't know what to do. I heard (from her story) that she's sick, so I tried to show her I was there for her by asking how she was and it she knew what she had and hoping she would get better so I could see her, but I don't know how much went through. We've been discussing tattoos--matching tattoos, specifically--so I told her it'd be cute to get tattoos of each other's birthmarks. She also thought it was a really cute idea. Oh god, I can't wait until something like that can be a real possibility.
I started on my college essay the other day. It's funny, my mythology teacher, Mrs. Dicocco Six, asked everyone in the class what they thought they'd write about and when she came over to me and asked I promptly told her that I didn't know. I did have /an/ idea, but I didn't really want to share. Regardless, she said that I was someone she was really interested in knowing more about. My ego inflated; my heart fluttered. I told her I don't even know who I am. Followed by a prompt "where am I?" She let out an "oof." Yeah, I may or may not have a thing for older women. 👀
I decided to write my essay on joining Exit 11. I want to talk about how I hated it at first, but now it's the highlight of my week. It used to make my heart flutter in horrid suspense, but now it makes my heart flutter in excited anticipation. Something, something, it's not so bad.
I thought I'd end this letter by marking where I am music wise. We both know that's the most important above all else. As of now, I recently became in (temporary) possession of a much better viola--courtesy of the Hagopians--and boy, is it that much /better/. I'm in Exit 11 for what is unfortunately my last year. Not sure if I'm gonna find an opportunity like that again. But like the amazing songwriter Clark Baxtresser once wrote: "everything has an end." Speaking of, you still listening/watching and re-watching Starkid? If not, go do so now. I can tell you need it. I currently am (surprisingly) in love with my ukulele, but I have my melodica, lyre, bell set/glockenspiel, kalimba, and my recorder (which is more just a shelf decoration. But anyways, here's a list of songs you need to go listen to because I told you so, and you know our taste in music never steers us wrong:
1.)Brand New Key- Melanie
2.)Homecoming Heroes- The Head and the Heart
3.)Glorious- MaMuse
4.)45 Years- Stan Rogers
5.)Holocene- Bon Iver
6.)Young Man in America- Anais Mitchell
7.)Let's Fall in Love for the Night- FINNEAS
8.)Still The One-Orleans
9.)When You're Young- 3 Doors Down
10.)Walls- The Lumineers
11.)Cleopatra- The Lumineers
12.)Save Me- Shinedown
13.)The Universe- Gregory Alan Isakov (presently listening)
14.)Let It Burn- Red
15.)Just go listen to Josh Turner and Carson McKee (The Other Favourites), you dummy
Before I close out (I know you'll like a longer letter), I'll give you some advice.
Knowing you, you'll either ignore this, or just cry. Take your pick. I skimmed some end-of-year papers I'd done a few years ago and I'll summarize my findings. Go slow, but don't stagnate, and of course, as Leonard Snart said: "Doesn't matter. There are only four rules you need to remember: make the plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails, throw away the plan." Whatever you've done, be proud of it. Whatever you haven't done, do it. It's not all fun, but whatever pays the bills for that sweet, sweet free time now, and in the future: do it. What's it all for if you just stress during your free time? It sounds hypocritical to say it to myself now, having skipped out on a lot of work (especially for AP Bio...), but I'm going to work on it. Stay motivated. Find something that gets you going and go. Slow down, but don't stagnate. And when things go wrong and keep going wrong, ask for help, *******. You're not an idiot, but you can't do everything. That's why there are so many of us. When the plan goes off the rails and you have to throw it away, find someone to help you. Don't be afraid. You can always ghost them right after. But make sure to say thank you, or you'll look like a huge *******.
And for god's sake, please get some mental help. I'm struggling right now, and I don't know how much longer I can stay on my feet, so I'm relying on you. Get on it and step up.
Anyway, that's it. I don't have any silly questions for you and I don't really care what you've been up to as long as you've been up to something. Like Shane Koyczan's grandfather said: "You can't just do whatever... whatever I choose to do, I must not be aimless." So do something. Preferably with music.
And because you don't hear this a lot from the right people (or person, I should say), I love you. You are loved and you should do best to remember that. If you don't feel like you are, then have this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7OGY1Jxp3o . It'll serve you well, I should think.
With my /best/ regards (or alternatively: bye, *****),
Hannah F Thompson,

P.S. Go check the stats on your FF story, you've probably forgotten about it, and maybe it's blown up over there :)
P.P.S. Go read something. Whether it's FF or something you've read already, or something new. Trust me. It's good for you.
